Fireworks Hotline
The City of Inglewood permits the sale and use of "Safe and Sane Fireworks," as approved by the State Fire Marshall.  Fireworks, rockets other explosives that do not have the “Safe and Sane” designation are strictly prohibited and illegal to possess.

FBI Investigation of OIS Incident
The Inglewood Police Department was notified Wednesday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will open an investigation into the May 17th officer-involved shooting incident resulting in the death of Marcus Smith.

Inglewood Police Sergeant Receives Award

On May 30, 2009, the National Latino Peace Officers Association (NLPOA) awarded Inglewood Police Department Sergeant Oscar Mejia with the 2009 “Officer of the Year” award.  The award was presented at the NLPOA national training conference held at the Sheraton Hotel in Universal City.

Spanish Language Community Police Academy
The Inglewood Police Department is currently looking for interested citizens to participate in the Department’s Spanish language Community Police Academy.  The Community Academy is an 11-week academic program designed to provide interested Inglewood citizens with hand on knowledge about the various operational components of the Inglewood Police Department.  Class instruction is provided by a select group of Spanish speaking subject matter experts within the Police Department.  Practical learning opportunities, such as conducting field ride-along activities with patrol officers, will also be available to the participants.

Officer Involved Shooting
On May 17, 2009, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Inglewood Police Officers responded to a residence located in the 800 block of South Osage Ave.  The officers were directed to the residence as a result of numerous citizens’ calls of subjects fighting, possibly at a party. 

Upon arrival at the location, the officers encountered a male adult suspect armed with a handgun.  An officer involved shooting then occurred.  As a result of the shooting incident, one officer was shot and injured in the leg and the suspect was fatally wounded.

ABC Investigators, Inglewood Police Work Together with the Forum to Make Events Safer
California Alcoholic Beverage Investigators and Inglewood Police have cited over 60 persons for possession of marajuana, minors in possession of alcohol, adults furnishing or drinking  in the parking lot of the Forum which is a violation of local city ordinance.  The enforcement activity took place on December 6, 17 & 18 before and during the AC/DC and Metallica concerts held at the Forum in Inglewood.

FELONY FILING – MULTIPLE STABBING SUSPECT
On September 30, 2008, Inglewood Police Officers responded to a radio call of multiple stabbing victims in the 100 block of East Spruce Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male Hispanic victim inside an apartment with a stab wound to his neck.
